Fabio Ciravegna nominated Director of Research and Innovation in the Digital World for the University of Sheffield

Professor Fabio Ciravegna, X-Media director, has been nominated Director of Research and Innovation (DRI) in the Digital World for the University of Sheffield.

This office is a key leadership role within the University, comparable to a Head of Department. This theme considers the technological, economic and social implications of a world in which information processing is cheap, powerful and ubiquitous. It addresses the RCUK cross-council priority area “Digital Economy” and the TSB challenge area “Living in an intelligent connected modern world”.

X-Media is sponsoring the 7th European Summer School on Ontological Engineering and the Semantic Web (SSSW-2009), held in Cercedilla, Spain, 5-11 July 2009.
Director is professor Enrico Motta (principal investigator for the Open University). Professor Fabio Ciravegna (X-Media director) was tutor.

X-Media is providing an in-kind contribution to the 6th European Semantic Web Conference, Heraklion, Greece, 31 May- 4 June 2009. The contribution of X-Media has consisted in the support by Ms Laura Smith in the organisation, as well as in providing the general chair, Prof. Fabio Ciravegna.
